Share the Shelf makes it easy to list and trade your used books with others near and far.

List

After signing up for a free account on Share the Shelf, simply list your used books on your online bookshelf. These are books you'd be willing to trade with other people.
Find

Browse the site to find books you like. Visit the Books page to see the most recent books added to the site. There you can browse by subject to find exactly what you're looking for.
Trade

When you find a book you like click a button to request a trade. In return the book's owner will be prompted to pick a book from your bookshelf. If they pick one of your books a trade is made!

Does Share the Shelf cost money?: Share the Shelf is absolutely free to use and does not require a credit card to sign up. There's the possibility of a modest fee in the future for additional "pro-level" features, but you will always have the option to opt out of these features and fees.

How do I receive/send the books I've traded?: Both parties involved in a trade are responsible to ship their books to one another. You decide the method of shipping and agree to send your book to the other party in a timely manner. Both parties will receive all necessary shipping and contact information via email.

How many books can I add to my bookshelf?: There are no limits to the number of books you can add to your bookshelf, just as there are no limits to the number of trade requests you can make on the site.

Do I have to make a trade if someone requests one of my books?: No, you do not. When someone requests to make a trade for one of your books you always have the option of declining the trade request.

What if I request a book and the request is declined?: This might happen if the other person isn't interested in any of your books. In that case find other books you like and continue making trade requests. There are no limits to the amount of requests you can make.

Can I trade books with people in other countries?: Yes you can. Before making a trade we recommend checking out the other party's profile page to see where they're from. If you don't mind shipping a book to their location then all is well.
